Think About His Love
Think about His love, think about his goodness.
Think about His grace that’s brought us through.
For as high as the heavens above so great is the measure of
our Father’s love.
Great is the measure of our Father’s love.
How could I forget His love? How could I forget His mercy?
He satisfies, He satisfies, He satisfies my desires.
Even when I strayed away, His love has sought me out and
found me.
He satisfies, He satisfies, He satisfies my desires.
[Walt Harrah]
And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and
neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have
found my sheep which was lost!’ I say to you that likewise
there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents
than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.
[Luke 15: 6-7]
little girl was looking out the window during a lightning
storm. She was clearly in awe as her father walked over and
asked her if she was alright. She looked up and said with
child-like concern, “Daddy I think God has lost somebody out
there!”
The little girl was right because in many cases it is a
storm that brings us to Him. God is always looking for us,
seeking us out and patiently waiting for us to realize that
the only permanent joy in this world is found in Christ.
During His ministry, Jesus spent His time on earth
associating with sinners and His parables offered comfort to
those who didn’t think they were worthy of His time or
gift. That was a cultural reversal of expectations for
anyone who lived during that time and still is today. Think
of our expectations, we just assume that success, wealth and
good things happen to those in positions of power and
control. The miracle of grace is that it reverses all those
expectations – we all can receive the gift regardless of our
position in this world for we are all made worthy by the
death and resurrection of Christ. Our standing in society,
our income, our education, our looks or even our age doesn’t
matter to Him, from the highest to the lowest, God the
Father rejoices over each and everyone of us that once was
lost and now is found.
Anyone who has lost something knows the frustration of
searching high and low for the object – and once we find it
– the absolute relief that floods us. That relief is the
joy that Jesus is talking about in this parable – God is so
relieved over the saving of one lost person that heaven
throws a party. He continues to seek us out even when we
stray – He will never rest until we are found. When you do
give your life over to Christ you can be sure that He
tirelessly sought you out and found you.
