Song:
Whiter Than The Snow
Bible Passage:
Psalm 51

Whiter Than The Snow

Whiter than the snow, purer than the clearest stream.
Wash me and I’ll be, bathed in purity, I long to feel clean.
A robe of righteousness, a robe that I cannot afford.
Lord You paid the price, Your perfect sacrifice has covered up my shame.
And I thank You, Jesus, for the sweet forgiveness of the cross.
It’s a mystery, that amazes even angels.
That when Father looks into my eyes,
He sees me now as whiter than the snow.
Lyrics by Mike Burn

Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean, wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.  [Psalm 51:7]

There was a woman who claimed to have visions of the Virgin Mary, she even claimed to talk to the Virgin.  Cardinal Sin (his real name) didn't pay much attention to her, even pretending not to hear her.  One day she persistently kept on calling him on the phone, and after five unsuccessful calls, she went to his residence and asked for an audience.
Cardinal Sin, thinking to put an end to this foolishness, told her, "When you see the Virgin Mary again tonight, tell her to ask her son Jesus what my gravest sin was."
And so the woman left, happy that the Cardinal had believed her.
Cardinal Sin was now sure that she'd stop pestering him about her visions. But the next day she came back and asked to see the Cardinal again. The Cardinal asked her, "Well, did you talk to the Virgin Mary last night?"
And she said, "Yes, but..."
"But what?" Cardinal Sin asked. "Did the Virgin ask Jesus about my sin?"
"Yes, she did ask Him." was the reply.
"What did Jesus tell her?"
The woman reluctantly answered, "She said that Jesus said He had forgotten."

And He has. There wasn’t a doubt in David’s mind – David became “whiter than the snow” in God’s eyes and so do we.   That total forgiveness is unique to God, when we forgive each other or ourselves, we rarely can “forget!”  We hang onto our hurts and guilt.  Occasionally we give them over to God but usually at one time or another we take them back to stew over them, nurse them and sometimes bring them back to life.  We will need to deal with the consequences of our sin, but we will never have to wonder if God remembers the sin.  When God forgives He forgets….totally….in His Eyes we are whiter than the snow.
