Song: I Stand In
Awe
Bible Passage: Matthew
5: 27-48
I Stand In Awe
I stand in awe, so amazed, totally changed by Your presence
forever.
Every time I look into Your eyes,
I see a glimpse of what I always wanted to be.
Let me changed, let me changed in Your presence.

Be perfect therefore as your Heavenly Father is perfect. [Matthew
5:48]
The engineer on the Norwegian-American liner Vistafjord had invited
some passengers to visit the ship's bridge. After he explained the
operation of the navigational equipment, one of his guests remarked
that all the brass gleamed as if it were gold. "How often do you
polish it?" the man inquired. "Every day," the engineer replied.
"The minute you stop polishing, it starts to tarnish." That comment
was like the self-appraisal made by the great pianist Paderewski.
Talking about the need for daily practice, he said that if he missed
a day, he would notice the difference in his playing. If he missed
several days, the critics would notice the difference. And if a week
went by without practice, the public would notice the difference.
Both the engineer and the pianist teach us the same lesson. We had
better not be sporadic in our spiritual disciplines if we want to
become more like Christ and if we want our lives to be attractive
testimonies for Him. George Barna, in his book Think Like Jesus,
writes about a “biblical worldview.” According to Barna, it is
asking the question “what would Jesus do if He were in my shoes
right now?” and applying the answer without compromising because of
how we anticipate the world reacting The foundation, filter, focus
and faith of Jesus’ life here on earth was the Word of God. He knew
the scriptures and He focused on the will of God for His life. He
spent time alone with God, focused on His will and He had
uncompromising compassion for everyone, especially the lost. We can
never be perfect but if we begin to view all our decisions and words
through the filter of Jesus we will be taking steps to Think Like
Jesus. The best way to do this is by reading His Word, praying His
Words, keeping close to Him everyday and showing His compassion to
others.
