May Blessing Journal
Song:
Most Holy One
Bible Passage:
Psalm 22

Most Holy One

Holy One, Most Holy One, Your ways are higher than mine.
Holy One, Most Holy One, May Your ways be mine.
Your ways are higher than the mountain,
Your love is deeper than the sea.
Your mercy’s flowing like a fountain
You touched my heart and made me free.
Words & Music by Kelly Willard and Paul Baloche

Yet You are enthroned as the Holy One; You are the praise of Israel.  In You our fathers put their trust; they trusted and You delivered them.  They cried to You and were saved; in You they trusted and were not disappointed. [Psalm 22: 3 – 5]

At the end of WWII, a soldier in England pulled to the curb and walked quietly to where a little fellow was standing. Through the steamed -up window he could see the morsels being pulled from a bakery oven, piping hot. The boy released a slight groan as he watched the cook place them on the counter. The soldier's heart went out to the nameless orphan. "Son, would you like some of those?"  The boy was startled. "Oh, yeah. I would!"   The American stepped inside, bought a dozen, walked back to the lad, smiled and held out the bag. "Here you are."   As he turned to walk away, he felt a tug on his coat and looked back. "Mister," the child asked quietly, "are you Jesus?"

Tom Peters, in his book, In Search of Excellence, made the observation that it is better to aim at perfection and miss, than to aim at imperfection and hit it.  So if we use Jesus, the Holy One as our model, we will certainly be aiming at perfection.  His ways are higher and perfect compared to ours but we can strive for that perfection by thinking and acting like Jesus.  Jesus had a foundation that was clear, reliable and accessible.  The Holy Word of God.  Jesus knew the scriptures, He knew the prophesies, He knew the history from the beginning of time, and He used the Word of God to teach others.  Do you?  Jesus was constantly in prayer, in communion with His Heavenly Father.  He prayed for guidance and direction in everything He did.  Do you?  Jesus acted in faith.  Jesus simply knew what was right and what was wrong.  Do you?  His ways are higher but you have the same Word and the same Father to help make His ways be yours.
